President and CEO

Joy Weiss is President and Chief Executive Officer of Tempo Automation and also a member of its board of directors. She has many years of experience leading electronics and technology businesses, including CEO roles at multiple semiconductor companies. Joy was one of Tempo’s earliest investors and first outside advisor. In her current position, she has led Tempo through significant growth and innovation, including a business combination that created a publicly-traded company with a rich set of services across a global network of smart factories. Prior to joining Tempo, she led Dust Networks through its acquisitions by Linear Technology, which was subsequently acquired by Analog Devices, a leading global semiconductor manufacturer, where she became VP, Data Center.

Joy currently serves on the board of Playworks, a national non-profit organization, and has also previously served on the boards of several other private companies. Joy holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and she has been named a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum.

Chief Financial Officer

Ryan Benton is Chief Financial Officer at Tempo Automation and serves as a member of the company’s board of directors. Ryan has more than 30 years of experience in finance and managerial roles. He has held CEO and CFO, and Corporate Controller positions for a number of technology companies.

Ryan is also an independent board member for Revasum, Inc. and Pivotal Systems, both publicly listed semiconductor capital equipment companies. As an independent board member, he serves on various committees, including his role as chair of Pivotal Systems’ Audit & Risk Management Committee. He previously served as CFO for several public companies including Exar Corporation, Brainchip Holdings, and Revasum Inc. As CEO at Exar Corporation, a fabless semiconductor manufacturer, he led the successful trade sale to Maxlinear Corporation.

Ryan holds a B.A. in Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin and he passed the State of Texas Certified Public Accountancy exam.

Ralph Richart

Chief Technology Officer

Ralph Richart is Tempo Automation’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Ralph has a wealth of experience in the quick-turn PCB and electronics manufacturing space, having served in the industry for nearly three decades.

Prior to joining Tempo, Ralph was Director of Manufacturing at Advanced Circuits, a printed circuit board manufacturer. While there, he oversaw the company’s largest manufacturing operation, including the development of new processes and products in collaboration with management, sales, production and engineering teams.

Before Advanced Circuits, Ralph was President at Coastal Circuits, a manufacturer of high-technology quick-turn printed circuit boards. He spent more than 23 years at the company, which was acquired by Advanced Circuits in 2015. Ralph holds a B.A. in economics from Skidmore College and has served as Club President for FORCE North, a competitive youth soccer program that serves children from 4 to 18 years old throughout the San Francisco Peninsula.

Dawn Sprague

Vice President of HR

Dawn Sprague is Tempo Automation’s Vice President of HR. In her role, Dawn enables Tempo to attract the best talent by providing an excellent employee experience through benefit design culture, and organizational design. She has a wealth of human resources experience, having served as a senior leader in human resources and by developing team members to create strong organizational structures.

Prior to Tempo, Dawn was Vice President of Human Resources at OSIsoft, a real-time data application software manufacturer. While there, she was responsible for the company’s global HR activities, including recruiting, compensation and benefits, employment compliance, organizational development, and development for employees and leadership.

Before OSIsoft, Dawn was HR Manager at SAFESecurity, where she handled all HR-related issues. Earlier in her career, she held positions at Avolent and Accenture. Dawn has a B.A. in political science from the University of California, Davis, as well as an M.S. in political science from the University of Oregon.

Jeff Kowalski is Tempo Automation’s Chief Product Officer (CPO). Jeff leads both the product management and software development teams, who create the “automation” behind Tempo Automation’s manufacturing platform.

Before joining Tempo, Jeff spent decades at Autodesk, the leading design, construction, manufacturing, and entertainment software company. Serving as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for his last 12 years, he pioneered real-time graphics, cloud computing, 3D scanning, additive manufacturing, and generative design, leading a global team responsible for next-generation research and development resolving complex design challenges and corporate strategy. He is recognized for shaping the firm’s long-term technology vision and driving innovation across the company and into the industry.

Jeff has held board positions at Tempo Automation, Singularity University, and Genome Compiler. He received a BSEE, and a MECS with distinction from Cornell University.

Mattias Cedergren

Mattias Cadergren is Tempo Automation’s Chief Manufacturing Officer (CMO). He has more than 20 years of global electrical and electronic manufacturing industry experience, most recently as the vice president of operations at Legrand-Finelite, a global specialist in electrical and digital building infrastructures. Skilled in operations management, international business, management, account management, product development and start-ups, Mattias brings a breadth of experience to the Tempo team spanning supply chain, factory operations, and global business unit leadership.

Prior to Legrand-Finelite, Mattias was vice president and general manager of the global design and production studio at Veev, a technology-driven hybrid real estate solutions company. Before that, Mattias spent two decades at Flex, where he held multiple leadership positions, ultimately rising to vice president and general manager for a portfolio of $1.8 billion across smart home, appliances and floorcare markets. While at Flex he ran a start-up incubator, growing it to $500 million in revenue, and managed large campus operations across design, new products, supply chain, operations and reverse logistics.

Mattias holds a ​​B.A. in business administration from Lund University School of Business in Sweden, and he also attended Stanford University’s executive education program.
